The Effect of Resveratrol with Interval Training On Oxidative Stress Biomarkers and Liver Enzymes in Men with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Abstract
Introduction: as esveratrol and exercise can influence the oxidative stress processes in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), present research aimed to reviwe the effects of  of interval training combined with resveratrol supplementation on liver enzymes, total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and malondialdehyde (MDA), in individuals with NAFLD. Methods: 48 participants randomly assigned into four groups of 12 persons including 1) resveratrol, 2) training, 3) training + resveratrol and 4) placebo groups. The exercise sessions were conducted over eight weeks, three times per week. Both the supplement and the training with supplement groups received 400 mg capsule daily for eight weeks. The placebo group recived a 400 mg starch capsule as a placebo daily for the same duration. Liver enzymes (ALT, AST), TAC and MDA levels were assessed at the pre- test and post- test. Two- way ANOVA and paired sample t tests were used for statistical analysis of dat (P≤0.05). Results: Resveratrol significantly increased TAC (P=0.002) and decreased ALT (P=0.01) as well as ALT reduced by training (P=0.001). Conclusion: It appears that resveratrol and training alone can improved NAFLD implication by improving liver enzyme, nevertheless they have no synergistic effects.
